How Do I Begin My Physical Therapy?
Physical Therapy has to be prescribed by a licensed doctor (other than a chiropractor) in the state of NY. This means an internist, orthopedist, podiatrist, family physician, etc.. can write a prescription to have Physical Therapy. The Physical Therapist must follow there orders including duration and frequency of visits. There are certain HMO's and insurances which may require your primary care physician to write your referral for Physical Therapy. Check your insurance card!

How Long Will My Therapy Visit Last?
The duration of your care has many variables. These variables include your diagnosis, the type of injury and your own tolerance to therapy. In general each of your visits will last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Your overall care could last several weeks to several months depending on your condition.

 What Should I Wear?
For your physical therapy appointments try to wear comfortable loose clothing. Keep in mind that your therapist may need to reach the area of concern.
